Meeting Times & Directions

Attendance

Basic Attendance Requirements
To be considered as attending a meeting, a member must attend 60 percent of any meeting. A member must not miss four meetings in succession and must attend 60 percent of all the meetings the club holds in each half of the Rotary year. If a member fails to attend as required, the member’s membership shall be subject to termination unless the board consents to such non-attendance for good cause. Other club meetings may count as attendance including board meetings, club assemblies and committee meetings. Attendance at Interact or Rotaract meetings can count as make ups.

Make Ups
In order to receive credit for a make up, it must occur 14 days prior to or 14 days following the missed regular club meeting. An advance make up is a wise idea if going on vacation. Credit for a make up is given if one presents himself/herself at another club’s meeting place at the proper time and finds the meeting canceled or changed to another day. Our Directory lists the places and times of meetings of nearby clubs on the inside back page. If you are going to be in a more distant town, ask a fellow club member or one of the officers about meetings in the cities you are visiting. A listing of all clubs is available on the Internet at rotary.org. Be sure to turn in a make up form to the secretary.

District assemblies, district conferences and district committee meetings as well as international conferences, conventions, institutes, assemblies and other prescribed meetings count as make ups. A member may receive a credit for two make ups by attending a district conference or an RI meeting.

Attendance Exemption for Certain Older Members
A member who has the aggregate of his or her age and years of service in Rotary of 85 years or more, and notifies the club secretary in writing of his or her desire, may ask to be excused permanently from all attendance requirements. The board customarily approves such requests. When approval is given, the attendance keeper no longer keeps attendance records on the member and ignores him in the club’s attendance computation.
