We live in a time when the world is truly global. This fits well with Rotary, since there are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians that belong to more than 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries. We speak hundreds of languages, adhere to a wide spectrum of religious, political, and philosophical beliefs, but we have at least one thing in common, our willingness to share and serve.
The 2007-2008 Rotary International President, Wilfrid (Wilf) Wilkinson has set our theme as, “Rotary Shares”. The areas of emphasis are literacy, water management, health, hunger and the family of Rotary. As Rotarians, we share our time, money and skills to make our clubs successful, serve our community and help the less fortunate. Our theme is reversible, we must share Rotary with our community and potential members to make sure that our club continues to prosper.
The Rotary Club of Cleveland has a great reputation and a long history of service. This was earned by the hard work of all our members since our club was founded in 1924. The opportunity to serve as President is a great honor and I am looking forward to working with everyone to continue that tradition.
Rotary is a great place to meet new people and fellowship every week, but above all else, we are a service organization. That’s why I joined Rotary. It is difficult for one person to make a difference in this fast paced global world, but a group of committed individuals can accomplish great things.
Let’s embrace the theme of Rotary Shares. I encourage you to share your time, money and skills. As goes the individual member of this club, so goes this club. Our individual attitudes, work ethic and enthusiasm will determine these characteristics for our club.
Sincerely,
Roger Fuller
President 2007-2008
